Why not dive in to the pool business? – Greenville Journal

Career opportunities never dry up in the pool business.

This fun, fast-paced industry incorporates a variety of occupations needed to design, build and service swimming pools, spas and water features. Whether simple or extravagant, residential or commercial, the project intention is always the same.

“Our business is making people happy,” says Todd Edwards, director of sales and business development at Genco Pools & Spas.

To build the happiness factor, a pool company recruits professionals ranging from designers, CAD specialists and landscape architects to project managers, construction supervisors and skilled tradesmen. The business and retail sides comprise accounting, billing, human resources, sales and customer service.

A cadre of credentialed service technicians are out in the field — and the fresh air and sunshine, too — ensuring clients’ pools are in proper repair and that water is clean, clear and balanced.

“For almost every skillset, there’s a career path leading into the pool industry,” Edwards says. “And once you get a foot in the door — or, should we say, a toe in the pool — you’ll find plenty of potential to advance your career. This is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country right now.”

The pool and spa industry sees annual revenues of $1.1 billion, according to IBISWorld statistics. In the United States, the industry enjoyed an annual growth rate of 1.6% from 2015 to 2020.

There are 10.4 million residential pools, 309,000 public pools and 7.3 million hot tubs in the United States, according to the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals. The industry is anticipating construction of an addition 20 million pools in the next 24 months.

“There are so many opportunities in the pool and spa industry right now for smart, hard-working professionals in a variety of occupations like construction and services, distribution, manufacturing and retail,” Edwards says.

With breadth and depth of experience more than three decades deep, this locally-owned company designs, builds and services residential and commercial pools, spas, fountains and more. It’s the community’s preferred go-to for the products and services that simplify pool ownership.

As part of Genco’s mission to build meaningful and lasting relationships with customers — and the community as a whole — the company regularly gives back through support of local schools, participation in charitable events and donations to local causes.

“It’s a good company, and you can feel good about working here,” Edwards says.
