I have rewritten this introduction many times, but the easiest way to do it is to just treat this like I would anyone online. Hello, my name is Raven Moore and I am the new sports reporter for the Chillicothe Gazette.
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Home of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Gateway Arch, and the best thin crust pizza that you could have ever asked for.
If you do not believe me, just take a trip there and visit Imo’s Pizza and we can gush about how delicious it is.
While St. Louis is where I developed my love for food, it is also where I developed my deep passion for sports.
Initially, my favorite was professional wrestling and to this day, I am happy to argue with anyone about why Shawn Michaels is the true greatest; more so than Stone Cold, Ric Flair, and John Cena.
From there, I also grew to love football and basketball, which would become key parts of my journalistic life.
I played softball and basketball until I graduated from high school in 2017.
Before we get to know each other better, I have to admit that I am a die-hard Ravens and Lakers fan, but I promise that I mean you Bengals, Browns, and Cavaliers no harm… unless our teams are playing.
If it is any consolation, I am a major LSU fan, so I am rooting for all LSU players’ success when they are not playing the Ravens.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Memphis, where I graduated with a BA in journalism.
For three years, I covered the university’s football, basketball, and softball teams. First, it was with the school’s newspaper, The Daily Helmsman. Then, I covered them through my internship with Best Version Media.
During that time, I also started my sports journalism platform, The X Report, where my co-hosts and I cover the NFL, NBA, and the WWE.
I am excited to continue to grow as a writer, as well as tell the stories of local athletes here. I am a firm believer that the best way for a journalist to do their job effectively is by building relationships with the people that they are covering.
So, with that being said, thank you Chillicothe for welcoming me and I look forward to getting to know the people and the city better.
Let’s be great together.
