Local baseball player making most of opportunities | News, Sports, Jobs – The Inter-Mountain

ELKINS — A local baseball player was recently selected to represent West Virginia at the eight annual Invitation-Only Prep-Baseball Report event held in Emerson, Georgia.

Jaxon Drennen, a freshman at Elkins High School, took part in the week-long event, which featured the best identified prospects from across the PBR Coverage Area at LakePoint Sports.

Participants were given the unique opportunity of competing against other top-level players while representing their respective state in a high-level atmosphere.

Drennen was also selected for a invite-only Mid-Atlantic US Elite baseball team of 2025. That team is comprised of young men from all over the East Coast. He practiced in Maryland and played at Radford University, where several college scouts were signing young men only a couple years older than Drennen.

He also played at West Virginia University and Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. Drennen is also set to play at Virginia Tech, Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and Salisbury, Maryland, during the fall. He has high hopes of making the National Team at the end of this season and will have the opportunity to play in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Locally, Drennen, a resident of Beverly, plays travel baseball for the 14U Apostles out of Jane Lew. He is coached and mentored by Ben Hall.

Drennen’s dream is to play at the DI level and get selected in the Major League Draft.

He also plays basketball and has been training with Elkins High School coaches regularly.
