Architecture firm Patterhn Ives is one of 40 American design firms being featured at an international exhibit on contemporary design.

The exhibit at the 2021 Venice Architectural Biennale is titled “A South Forty: Contemporary Architecture and Design in the American South.” It highlights the work of 40 design firms practicing in proximity to U.S. Interstate 40 and seeks to inspire dialogue on the significance of contemporary design in an often overlooked or compartmentalized region.

Patterhn Ives, locally headquartered in Clayton, aims to create buildings that endure by combining regional materials with sustainable design practices, the company said.

Featured projects include the recently completed Kol Rinah Synagogue addition and renovation in Clayton, as well as the American Card Services office interior in Chesterfield.

Partners Anna Ives, Eric Hoffman and Tony Patterson founded the full-service architecture practice in 2014.
