Boonsboro farm to be featured on MPT – Herald-Mail Media

A Washington County farm will be featured in a Maryland Public Television series Tuesday.

Native Mountain Farm in Boonsboro is one of several stops during the Maryland Farm & Harvest show, according to a news release from MPT. The show airs at 7 p.m. on Antietam Broadband Channel 3 and 31.1 over the air. New episodes are also live-streamed on MPT’s website, mpt.org.

Al Spoler, who hosts the Local Buy portion of the show, talks with farmer Natasha Bowens Blair, who grows a variety of flowers, herbs and fruit. One of the farm’s most interesting crops is the tiny elderberry, which packs a healthy punch of antioxidants.

Blair, who is also an author of the book “The Color of Food,” shares her experience as a farmer of color and explains why it’s important that her daughters are involved with the farm. Then, Spoler learns about the health effects of the elderberry and shares Natasha’s recipe for an elderberry tonic, which will be available for viewers at mpt.org/farms.

The show also will feature farms and locations in Carroll, Cecil and Queen Anne’s counties during the episode.
